Cajun Beer Bread

Cajun Beer Bread

A spicy beer bread,
wonderful with chili or
red beans and rice~





Cajun Beer Bread

Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1/4 cup canned diced green chilies
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons creole seasoning
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 12 ounce beer
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
Cooking Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 F
  2. In small saute' pan, heat oil. Saute' onion, green chilies and garlic until tender. Set aside to cool.
  3. Mix together dry ingredients; add beer, stir. Fold in onion mixture.
  4. Pour into a greased 9 x 5 loaf pan.
  5. Pour melted butter over batter in pan.
  6. Bake 1 hour, remove pan from oven and cool for 10 minutes.
  7. Remove bread from pan and cool on wire rack.
