Blood Orange Scones with Blood Orange Glaze

Blood Orange Scones with Orange Glaze



Blood Orange Scones with Orange Glaze
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 stick butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 tablespoon blood orange zest
  • 1 egg slightly beaten
  • 4 tablespoons blood orange juice
  • 4 tablespoons honey flavored yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons milk
Cooking Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 400º Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In large bowl, combine flour, oatmeal, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda.
  3. Cut in cubed butter with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. With fork, stir in blood orange zest.
  5. In small bowl combine egg, blood orange juice, yogurt and milk.
  6. Add milk mixture to flour mixture, stir together.
  7. Turn dough out onto well floured surface, knead 8 to 10 times.
  8. Pat dough into 8 inch circle. Cut dough into 8 wedges.
  9. Place on parchment lined baking sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
  10. Remove from baking sheet and cool on wire rack.


Blood Orange Glaze

Ingredients
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons blood orange juice
Cooking Directions
  1. Mix together confectioners sugar and juice until reach desired drizzle consistency.
  2. Drizzle over scones
