Memorial Day Weekend is 

this weekend?

That means that summer has officially begun...

and 

we can start wearing white again!

If your as old as I am...

you know what that phrase means.

Every year around this time of year,

the age old debate starts...

Do you have to wait for Memorial Day to wear white?

How did this, "No white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day"

fashion rule start?

It began in the 1930's with the ultra-rich wearing only white in the summer.

It continued through the decades mainly due to the fact that the summer months are hot and

summer clothing is made of light-weight material and

people generally wear lighter colors during the summer months.

Fashion rules are meant to be broken and

people do wear "winter white" during the winter months but

one hard rule of thumb that is never to be broken---

never wear a white dress or outfit to a wedding..

unless your the bride!
