We absolutely loved this recipe. Simply Delicious~
The cabbage was tender, the addition of bacon, well...
let's face it, bacon never hurt anything and
after making this recipe, I have realized that
apple cider vinegar and cabbage are meant for each other.

Right before serving,
the cabbage is placed under the broiler,
giving the cabbage a nice golden brown color and
crisping up the bacon perfectly.

Irish Cabbage

Ingredients
  • 2 slices thick bacon, diced
  • 1 medium cabbage, cored and cut into wedges
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • salt and pepper, to taste
Cooking Directions
  1. Preheat oven broiler
  2. Place cabbage into a large pot. Add water and bring to a boil.
  3. Simmer over low heat until tender, about 15 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, cook bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat until crisp. Drain and set aside. Drain cabbage, and drizzle with melted butter. Sprinkle with bacon and nutmeg. Transfer to a baking dish. Drizzle with apple cider vinegar. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Place under your oven's broiler until the top layer is lightly browned, about 5 minutes.
